CrossCode 0.9.2 with Chinese Localization + Faster Startup!

chinese-release-header

We got a small little update for you! CrossCode version 0.9.2 now features a complete Chinese translation done by WhisperGames!

titlescreenChinese on the title screen. Such nice characters.

dialogChinese dialogs. I can’t read anything.

menuChinese menus. Yupp. This reminds me of old times when I tried to play imported RPGs.

…So yeah! Let’s hope that WhisperGames does a good job with the localization! It’s not like we can check it! :D

Another change: CrossCode should now start much faster. Previously, all game assets have been shipped in an archive that had to be fully extracted before the game could start. Not only did this take long it also spammed your hard drives with the extracted files over and over again. Yeah, that was a bad idea. Sorry for that! Anyway, this is a thing of the past and from now on CrossCode should start right away without any archive extraction!

Oh… and in case you’re wondering about other localizations: we’re about to fly to Kyoto, Japan to attend BitSummit so maybe you can guess what other translation we’re currently working on…

And that’s all! Now let’s wrap up this post with Lea wearing a cheongsam!

I have no way of downloading the update abd checking myself, but I’m wondering whether the Chinese characters are higher res than the rest of the game, and if so how does the game handle that?
Also who made the graphics for the characters, you or WhisperGames?

    • The characters are drawn using system fonts and yes, they have a higher resolution. It works because everything in CrossCode is upscaled with x2 by default. Actually… never checked how that looks when you only use 1x scaling x_x

Are the words traditional or simplified?

Hey Devs, any news when the update will be up for GOG users?

We already missed the 0.9.1 :( (even if it was mainly for the April fools’ day)

The comments from steam users about the new loading time looks nice (I can’t say anything about the Chinese translation because I also can’t read it!).

Have a nice fly to the BitSummit and have fun!

  • is there a switch port

  • I am willing to fully translate the game into polish, if you would want that. I am waiting for a reply so we could discuss about it :)
