Finally some more CrossCode News!

Hello everyball!

It has been a long time and we’re finally back with a new update! We have news about the console versions as well as some words about the Post Game DLC release date.

Next steps for CrossCode on Consoles

CrossCode on consoles had a somewhat rocky release with a number of performance issues (especially on Switch). Luckily, most of the major issues have been fixed rather quickly! Unfortunately the certification of the patches for the different consoles took longer. At the time of writing, one patch is still in certification for the PlayStation 4. But we’re getting there. Work on following updates continues of course.

The next bigger update however will take a little longer. We have finally started on migrating to the latest build which means that we are also working on New Game Plus for the consoles. Due to the nature of how CrossCode runs on consoles (HTML5 inside a C++ application) this will take some time, as it requires additional testing of previously not included features. We are still quite optimistic to unleash the patch in 2020. But if you ask us for a specific date: No, we can’t tell you when exactly NG+ is ready for consoles. But it will happen!

As you may already know, in celebration of the CrossCode release for consoles, we teamed up with ININ Games to give you a special limited SteelBook release and a really nice Collector’s Edition! These two special non-retail versions of CrossCode are available for pre-order exclusively at the SLG Partner Store.

The Nintendo Switch Collector’s Edition is currently sold out, but there are still some couple of hundred copies of the SteelBook Edition left. The even more limited in numbers PS4 Editions are still available, both in the form of a Collector’s Edition – Limited to 1500 copies worldwide – and a PS4 SteelBook Edition.

All editions feature a sequential numbering, an individual number for each and every copy of the game, which shows off it’s exclusive nature in a really cool way! These editions will also feature a different (and reversible!) cover art than the regular retail version of the game.

Besides the console editions, we also have some good news for our PC fans. We are very happy that CrossCode will be given a physical PC release! As this version won’t be widely available at retail, the way to go if you’d like to own a PC copy of CrossCode will be to get it through the SLG Partner Store! The CrossCode PC Editions will be available as a SteelBook Edition, as well as a Collector’s Edition.

Next steps for the Post Game DLC

Work on the DLC continues! Here are few new impressions:

More progress on the new area! Things are still work in progress here!

A new location in the sky?

Look who is now in the game!

Now a little word about the release windows

In our last update we already mentioned that the release of the DLC will happen “hopefully this year”.
Since the console release was more distracting for us than expected and also because we keep underestimating the amount of work ahead, we’d like to move the release window a little bit further.

The new plan is to release the post-game DLC in early 2021.

We know this is a bummer for many – initially we aimed to release the DLC in time for the second anniversary of the PC release.

However, ultimately we want to make sure that the quality of the DLC will match the rest of the game and for that we’ll need a bit more time to bring the whole story to a (hopefully) satisfying conclusion.

Just remember: more time usually means a better result. That’s why we had to postpone CrossCode 6 times before this already.

We are sorry for the delay but also hope you understand.
It will be worth the wait!

Until next time!

I bought my friend Crosscode a year ago for his birthday, and now we’re both eagerly awaiting our special editions for Switch and PS4 to play side-by-side. I love every little thing in the game, so I’m looking forward to being able to play it again with some new expetiences

  • Feel free to take as much time as you need. I, and likely many other fans, have all the faith in you. You’ve already wowed with me with the amazing stuff that’s already in the game! Honestly, this is my favorite game of all time. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

  • so sergey is officially dating with Satoshi now? k it’ll worth the wait. take your time, fishes!

    Take your time, mates.

  • Thanks for the update :)

Glad to hear that work getting the console edition up to the latest version is underway. Couldn’t agree more that more time means a better result; I always go back to the Miyamoto quote “A delayed game is eventually good, a bad game is bad forever”.

  • Amazing work guys! I hope the game gets released in January. But man, Sergey’s avatar is a thicc boi.

  • I’m glad to see progress is still being made, even though waiting is hard. Still looking forward to it though!

Really excited to get the collectors edition for switch. When should we expect to see those ship out? I need to plan out a weekend so I can grind that again!

I was to understand that the physical PS4 edition would release today, Oct 20th, in North America. The only place that has it is Amazon UK so I got it from there but it’ll take some time to get here.

Hmmm, did I order a British version?

Thank you, continue the fine work! Looking forward to the DLC on consoles one day, and I will wait as long as needed. Please take your time to make it the best it can be!

Guess i’ll have to ask for refund in some sort of way, since you guys can’t even focus in your job properly. I’m not gonna wait until next year, for you to delay the new content again because of some silly excuse.

    • Sorry, but you are not applicable for any refund.

CrossCode (the full version) is complete in its current state and the Post Game DLC is sold separately.

    • What rude, self-absorbed, arrogant and entitled comment.

Try considering other people when growing impatient about your video games. Hopefully you have food, clothing and shelter (you know- things you actually need). You seem to have power and electronics, so life must not be that bad.

  • I just finished Crosscode, and missed the good ending. Going back for it with the expectation of a full ending left a sour taste when all it was is a “Coming Soon” message.

  • Hi! cant wait to get my hands on the Collector’s Edition!

GLHF with the updates and all

  • Please put a Jukebox into the game! (on the encyclopedia maybe) the OST is incredible! :D

Please put the Jukebox in the game! (into the encyclopedia) to listen the incredible OST!

  • So basically you guys wont be doing anything for who bought the game? We’ll just have to wait at your will? Like console version matters to who’s playing on pc, i paid for the game and still need to wait for it to be complete? wth? I’m going to ask for a refund and never get the game again, because this is ridiculous, this is totally disrespectfull

    • 1. The pc version of the game at the current state is complete and includes all the content that we promised it would have. The ending might not be exactly to your liking, but that’s not really relevant.

      2. The Post Game Content will not be released for free but as a Paid DLC. So you have to pay again anyway

I’m sorry to say, but you’re not applicable for a refund. A 40-80 hour story-rich RPG we worked on for over 7 years is all you gonna get for your 20 bucks. I know, totally disrespectful.

      • Actually when you’re making something for the game, like, adding more story like content, it’s meant to be on the game already, not to be charged again, and about the 7 years work, cool, nice for you, want me to send a trophy? Like 40-80 hours is something to brag about, it doesn’t matter if it was 20 bucks, or more, or less, it’s about being right. Ever since ppl started with this bullshit about “DLC”, it was wrong, like: “look, we’re making more things to the game history that was meant to be in the game already, but we’re gonna charge you for it, cuz you guys are stupid enough to pay for it”.
That’s the disrespect i was talking about, and that’s fine if i don’t get a refund, it’s not like i’m gonna miss that money anyway

        • You seem to have your very own definition of what belongs to the “full game” and what not.

The truth is: CrossCode ended how it was originally planned. The original conflict of the main plot has been resolved. That’s how we wanted to the end the game – with a somewhat unclear/open future. You might call bullshit, but I have early development documents that proof that we originally never planned to develop the plot beyond the end of version 1.0.

Now, thanks to the DLC we wanted to move the story a bit further and give a peek beyond the end, see how things continue.

I feel our biggest mistake was to add a hint to the end of the game so player got the notice that “more content might come later”. It makes the game feel less complete than it actually is.

So the the DLC really wasn’t “meant to be in the game already”, that’s just your personal opinion.

    • The irony is that you call the devs disrespectful. Are you a child? Do you not know what “DLC” means? It’s okay if you don’t, but if so, you should educate yourself before making a fool of yourself with such rude and ignorant complaints.

You are correct though- “this is ridiculous, this is totally disrespectful”. Not on the developers part though.

  • Hello! Just finished the game the other day, such a charming game! I’m playing on console, appreciate you might not be able to say, but will the DLC be released at the same time for console as PC or significantly later? Buying it either way, just wondering how long to contain the excitement for!

    Thanks!

  • This game is amazing! DLC or literally any content would be worth every penny for me. The attention to detail you’ve put into crafting the levels and mechanics is truly one-of-a-kind (zelda/dark souls tier). Please ignore folks like Andrez above and keep doing great things.

  • Hi,
Any news/ plans for a French version?

I really think you’re missing something here. You can rely on outsourcing to make the translation, and be very comfortable for the return of investment with a community of 300 millions speakers in the world.

    Good luck for DLC release

  • Just dropping a comment to say thanks for making such a great game! Eagerly awaiting the DLC release, but willing to wait as long as it takes to make sure it’s great!

Hope 2021 goes well for you guys, and anyone else reading this.

Log date: Thuesday, February 9th, 2921.
    Subject: Still waiting…

Body: … but I’m waiting patiently. I know you take your time to polish it as much as possible. I saw that you streamed it, but every streams and youtube videos that we observe you work on the DLC… well I kept away from all of them. I’ve seen none… but I REALLY wanted to.

CrossCode is probably one of the best, if not THE best game I’ve played in years, many years. I’ve pushed many friends to play it and they all loveee it! I discovered the whole game without seeing anything about it and I LOVED discovering it all… and I know I’ll love the DLC as much.

So yeah! Still waiting…. but I know it’s gonna be worth it. :) Just know that there’s many people who appreciate your work.

Gamers know the feeling of discovering a GOOD game, a GREAT game and plunging head first into its lore and mechanics… and end up in an emotional trip, the likes of wich Hollywood itself can only DREAM of involving their fans as much… even without many words spoken, a few funny expressions and a pixelised 3d environment. This is something you all can be proud of!

Keep up the good work! I’ll keep waiting… :D

  • Just finished the game on Switch. Let me just say- this game isn’t worth $20- it’s worth far more! Every part of the game, from exploring the dungeons, interacting with each new element, to exploring the map and all its parkour and puzzles. There aren’t many games I know of that are clearly labors of love- Terraria comes to mind- but this is clearly one of them. Definitely one of the best games I’ve ever played. 15/10, can’t wait for NG+ and the DLC!

Any update on the NG+ console progress?

  • Hello!! Just finished CrossCode and it made it’s way on to my list of favorite games. I read about a DLC coming in early 2021, is there any new on it!? I am just so excited to see what you guys are cooking up!
