CrossCode confirmed for Nintendo Switch

Now as it turns out, Hedgehags learned to fly! And thus, CrossCode is now confirmed to be release for Nintendo Switch sometime this year together with exclusive content, probably something involving those Flying Hedgehags.

And since some people already asked about it: We did not forget about the PS4 port. It’s still being worked on!

Meanwhile: work on the PC version continues.
The next update will still happen this month with more free updates following.

Someone needs to draw some flying hedgehags to commemorate this occasion! oh and the devs should put a flying hedgehag in the game. You know, for the memes.

Great!! I will definitely double dip on this one! (backed the game on indiegogo as well :D)

    Question:
Did Nintendo help with/provide a way to have the HTML5 code run on the Switch or to more easily convert the code to something that can run on Switch? Or do you guys still have to convert everything to a different code language?

  • congratulations on your newfound fortunes!

curious, what pushed the decision to port to Switch? Did Nintendo help in any way?

  • That is very good, I’m happy for you to hear that. How did you manage to overcome the technical HTML5 limitations on the switch within only a month since you mentioned them?

  • the pig is on the tree

Man, we got ticked good: “Only when Hedgehags lean to flight”, we get a Switch release, huh. Well, congratulations, i think CrossCode is a perfect match for the Switch and i am looking forward to play it on there!

I usually buy my switch games physical, Is there going to be a physical edition?

  • Amazing. Looking forward to the ports (especially the PS4, since I play a lot on that)!

Great news! But I have to wonder what changed. Is Nintendo providing help with the port?

“CrossCode is written in HTML5 which you cannot run natively on the Switch (just like most consoles). This means a LOT of things have to be reprogrammed/rewritten.”

You absolute madmen, you did it! Congrats and thank you for being able to bring it to the Switch. This’ll be a no-brainer (re)purchase for me the moment it’s available.

  • Congrats, guys. Nailed it.

  • Haha, I read the news elsewhere and was in disbelief because of your previous blog where the suggestion was completely shut down. I’m glad you guys figured something out.

  • Amazing, I did not expect this. Pretty sure you will be getting rich soon, given how good your game is and how well the Switch appears to provide exposure for new retro titles.

  • Great! Looking forward to it :-)
How does this work technically, still HTML? Has the switch enough power for that?

  • This game is just about perfect. One of the best story lines I’ve encountered, a very fulfilling ending (so far), wonderful graphics, an equally awesome soundtrack, and a very creative (and well done) combat system. I plan on buying it as soon as it comes out on the switch. One question though, will it be the exact same as the current PC version? (Minus internal coding, of course, and some bugs.) Or will it have some slight visual/audio differences, or something like that?
And one question that I’ve had for quite a while, will you ever release a(n) MMO game based on CrossCode, or another single player game that you can pick your class? Hopefully at least local multiplayer? It would be great to play this with friends in a party. :D

Glad to see the PS4 version is still in the works.

  • I never hearf of CrossCode before the Nintendo Switch announcement, but I’ll super excited to get it. Will be a day 1 buy for me. Super hype. I’ll probably buy it again for my PS4 as well.

Very excited! Our of curiosity, what changed from a technical standpoint? Are you guys rewriting it in another language to get it to run on the switch, or did something change that would allow it to run natively on the switch?

  • You guys are genius. CONGRATULATION !!
(Also I never thought you would push the flying Edgehags joke so far…)

  • Can we expect a physical release at some point?

  • I can’t wait for the Switch version.

I loved the game from the moment I found an bought it on Steam, back in early access and I can’t wait to be able to play it on the go!

  • Love the game so far, might pick it up for the switch as well

  • You guys might just make me pick up a Switch. Congrats on the port!

  • oh no. shouold i wait for ns version or should i play pc first.
i already waited so long.maybe i should just play more then one walkthrough

  • Please make a physical version

  • Any chance this will come to Xbox since it’s going to be on PS4? I bought it on PC but if it’s more about getting a publisher is there a reason not to port on Xbox as well, possibly as a digital download?
