Alabaster Dawn Update for the New Year of 2025

Greetings everyball and happy first Blogpost of the Newest of Years!

Much has been accomplished since our last post, so we should use the beginning of 2025 to give you another update on our progress. Furthermore, we wanna give a short overview of our current development goals and priorities!

Current Goals

At the moment our focus lies on finishing up the beginning of the game. This primarily includes filling in the missing story scenes and finishing up the introductions to the scenario. This will also include a flashback to the times before Juno woke up in that strange situation known from the convention demos.

Our main goal is to have a full coherent beginning that we can use as a reference for later developments in the story. Furthermore it will be helpful to know what information the player will already have when writing story scenes later on.

However, with the importance of this part of the game (it needs to hook the interest of new players after all!) we will likely spend a lot of time polishing it as good as we can. Therefore, a public demo might take us a bit longer as anticipated. Sorry, we will do our best to make it worth the wait!

Recent Progress

Aside from working towards that primary goal, we also made progress in other areas.

For one, the first proper dungeon has been completed! Here are a few examples for the puzzles

It wouldn’t be a @radicalfishgames.com game without some elemental puzzling.

The first dungeon of #AlabasterDawn has players juggle around orbs of energy to activate or unlock paths and switches. #gamedev

Unlike in CrossCode your companions actually follow you inside and play a role in solving the puzzles!

See here how Filia helps out solving puzzles via special panels provided in dungeons – called weaving in #AlabasterDawn.

And to release some stress you’ll find pots and other objects to annihilate.

Don’t worry guys, you can still let out your anger on inanimate objects in #AlabasterDawn.
Some even drop valuable loot used to cook dishes or upgrade your gear.
Healing Plants not only heal you, but also restore healing charges on to your “Divine Bulb”, yum!

As you’d expect for a dungeon, you can also receive new abilities there, of course with a fancy cutscene.

In #AlabasterDawn you will gain the power of different elements, and with each one you unlock new slots to assign a melee and a ranged weapon to!

Aside from the elements and combo attacks, you can also find various Divine Arts for additional options amongst Juno’s arsenal.

We recently implemented Divine Arts for #AlabasterDawn that you can use just like Combat Arts in CrossCode.

The first one causes the “Brittle” status condition that neutralizes hit type resistance – allowing you to break enemies with whatever weapon you like. #gamedev

Finally, a quick look at a crucial cutscene in a work-in-progress state with familiar placeholder music.

Happy new year from everyone at Radical Fish!

Today we’re showing a little WIP scene from #AlabasterDawn where the surroundings’ nature is brought back!

We will have more updates for you soon in a new blogpost!

Nature returning to the barren lands, banishing the mysterious corruption. Quite the sight, isn’t it?

  • Hello!
    Thanks for the detailed news!
I wanted to warn you that the Bluesky link at the bottom of your article is wrong.
    It should be

    instead of

Keep up the good work! (without overworking yourselves)

    • Thank you for mentioning that!
We did change the adress at some point to have a common domain-handle and forgot to adapt it in our posts here. I fixed it in all the relevant posts now.

  • As a Silksong fan, I’m not used to this many news 😭
Alabaster Dawn is looking incredible, I can’t wait to play it and see how you refine the amazing CrossCode gameplay!
If you ever need a Spanish translator for any reason, feel free to hit me up!
Thank you for your great work 😁

  • Will there be CrossCode references in the game?

  • Happy New Year for all the Team (and everyone else).

I hope 2025 will bring you all a lot of attention to this new game that will certainly be Incredible.

I’m sure everyone will agree that having a polished game in sacrifice of waiting a little bit more it’s better than the opposite so just take your time so you can make Alabaster Dawn have the best start as possible.

Good luck to all the Team.

  • Please release on iOS/iPadOS. I’d like to play this on my iPad Mini.

    Thank you.

    • They said before in a previous post that it will work just like Crosscode (they said it should happen sometime during 2025 but that may have changed now).
