Yeah, not only do we delay the release, but also missed the proper time for the weekly report.
But don’t misunderstand! We’re currently working a lot on the project and a lot of things happened. Small things, but a lot of them.
Here a visual summary:

And here in text:
- Made the game and its webpage multi-language compatible (available for now will be English and German)
- Created a weaker bot enemy for the first (real) battle
- Created graphics for multi-hit-switch
- Improved appearance of hovered buttons
- A major component to optimize rendering (persistent pre-drawing on separate buffer to reduce per-frame drawing calls)
- Creation of new on-map interfaces, which we call AR (Augmented Reality) interfaces. Note: These probably won’t appear in the TechDemo++ yet
- Struggling with Chrome issues concerning audio. Turns out the current stable release crashes when loading more than 25 different sounds. Note that this seems to be fixed for more recent versions of Chrome (e.g. Canary).
Until next Sunday, when we’ll release the TechDemo++!

The revamped graphics I can understand… what does the AR thing actually do, besides sound cool?
Theory time! Maybe those panels are areas of a map that can change or are dynamic; Like if you need to fell a tree to progress and sometimes you can pass through there, but other times… there’s kinda a tree.
Amiright?
The AR thing in practice is really nothing more that a fancy display attached to content in the map. It moves with the content, pointing at it and will disappear if the content is outside of the viewing frustum.
We will use those displays to show information e.g. on enemies or puzzle objects.
The reason we call it AR (Augmented Reality) is due to the scenario of the game (more information on that MAYBE sometime later).
There is no real AR functionality involved here. So no access to your webcam and stuff.
So THAT’S what bot-chan’s random metal headband thing is!
So the “destroy me” sign would be a part of that AR? That makes a ton of sense.
Thanks, and hopefully the demo++ will be good!
