Weekly Update #28 WebAudio and Menu

Time for some updates!

This week we finally managed to finish the WebAudio integration. It took us a while because of various tripping stones and design issues. We also started making graphics for the upcoming menu.

Web Audio

Well, after a long time we finally are done with this. With the new audio integration we can perfectly loop any music track. No timing issues anymore! As promised we will cover our experience with the WebAudio API in a technical post, which will arrive later next week. If you’re interested in why it took us so long, what the downsides are, or how to work with the API make sure to check it out.
As a bonus, here is a short audio track which we used to test the API:

Menu

For the menu, we mainly focused on the main menu and the equipment menu. We made a nice little Lea sprite just for the menu:
menu-lea(can you guess where we got the inspiration for the pose?)

Of course you also want too see how the actual menu looks like, right? We got a small work-in-progress from the equipment menu, which gives you a small glance on what the final piece will look like. The general design will stay clean and simple but of course some graphics and names are only placeholders!

That’s it, chaps!

The next weeks will probably include lots of updates on the menu, which will feature some nifty screens too! So… stay tuned!

  • Looks like Super Metroid to me. :-P

  • Metroid! ;-) Mixed with some RPG stats…
    Nice sprite!

    Tech post ahaid! Can’t wait!

  • I also want to tell I recognized Metroid!

    Besides, that’s your chance:
Since the reception for the Barbie-Other-M-Samus was so bad, you should feed sweet Lea a bit more or make she more masculine, so everyone sees you created the more plausible Action-Heroine.
And with that fancy Metroid-Menu-Design everyone will understand.

  • Generic equipment? You mean that stores will sell things that are compatible with weird proprietary headset things?

    Maybe it’s just USB.

Anyway, repeating tracks! Finally! Also, what’s FOC? Focus? I’m going to guess that when you’re throwing non-charged balls, it makes them more accurate.

Also, RES seems kind of nondescriptive. Maybe you could do FIR, CLD, ELC, and WND instead?

    • FOC stand for focus. It increases the chance to do critical strikes and reduces the chance to receive critical strikes.

We thought about changing the description. We currently have the full word (resistance), which works pretty well.
