German localisation & the first Indiegogo updates

Good day to our dearest supporters and those who might one day be among them!

Our Indiegogo campaign has been running for about a week and has already been met with some amazing support, which we are very thankful for! Of course, we are far from done and still need all the help we can get to reach our goal, so please continue to spread the word!
During the crowdfunding campaign a lot of things will be different than usual, namely the way these updates are released. We are trying to release new updates on Indiegogo almost daily and give a short synopsis of those on here as well, which means irregular but more frequent blogposts. The first few updates will be covered at the end of this very post.

Before that though, we will announce a very special new release of the game:

Version 0.1.4 and German localisation (CrossCode auf Deutsch!)

Some of you might remember the old TechDemo of CrossCode in all its simplicity and how it offered a German language option. All the versions after that only had an English localisation, because we just didn’t get around to write all the dialogues for both languages. UNTIL NOW!

In the most recent version of CrossCode you can switch between the English and German language in the Options menu. The game will need to restart before it can switch to your preferred language! That way we will also be able to add more languages in the distant future! In case our international fanbase warrants it, of course, considering we would need dedicated translators for those.

The German localization, it being our first language, was of course done by ourselves and mostly me (GFluegel). The entire team helped and gave suggestions towards typos, specific manners of speech for each character and so on.
A special shoutout goes to our music master Intero, whose endless nagging resulted in some quite massive error-reports which I’m sure made the writing all the better!
Still, it was surprising how much harder it can be to write fluid, well sounding dialogue in our native language. Maybe it’s just the way the language flows compared English. Definitely expect the German textboxes to be a bit bigger most of the time. But since this update might be most interesting for our German-speaking fanbase I’ll direct the next paragraph towards them:

Bratwurst. Oktoberfest. Kraftfahrzeughaftpflichtversicherung.

This update also includes some small bugfixes and new mouse cursors! The mouse cursor will change depending on what you are trying to do (ranged, melee, browsing the menu), which definitely makes distinguishing between melee and throwing range during combat much easier.

Indiegogo updates

All the Indiegogo updates can be found here and be read in greater detail. On this blog we’ll just give you a small summary as follows:

Well, that sound like a successful beginning of the internationalization of the game. As a player I want to see there all possible localisations like Spanish, Russian, Chinese, Korean and others. I know, there may be some troubles with text length, font glyphs and translation, but hey, I’m sure you have a big fans community and I think they may offer you some help.
Anyway, thank you for this wonderful game and for making it better and better.
